It’s All In A State of Mind
Here’s another great poem that I’m sure you’ve heard before. There’s a couple variations floating around the net, but this one appears to be the original.
“It’s All In A State Of Mind”
If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t,
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It’s almost a “cinch” you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost,
For out in the world you find
Success begins with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in the state of mind.
Full many a race is lost
Ere ever a step is run;
And many a coward fails
Ere ever his work’s begun.
Think big and your deeds will grow,
Think small and you’ll fall behind,
Think that you can and you will;
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you’re outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later, the man who wins,
Is the fellow who thinks he can.
-Walter D. Wintle

Thanks for the encouragement to keep at a goal I’m shy about trying for, thinking I won’t be good enough. This poem shed light on my silent inner un-confidence and challenges me to march on!

Yes, I did a bit of research on it before, so I was pretty sure I had it right. But Wikipedia answers all things, and that’s where I just went now.
Check out these two pages and they will answer your questions:

We are all born with special gifts and talents, first we need to recognise our strengths and weaknesses. We then need to work on strengthening our weaknesses.
We have to believe in ourselves and not worry if we do not succeed straight away. Success comes with allot of hard work as long as you are willing to preserver, you will reach your goal. Sure there will be times when you want to give up but just think how great it will be when you finally succeed. Creating successful images in your mind will help you to achieve your goals.
Who said life was easy? It is what we make of it.
Great poem Shawn.
Take care always….

This is really an excellent poem which encourages a person to face numerous challenges in life and clearly justifies the fact: “WHERE THERE IS WILL THERE IS A WAY”. Keep sending these types of precious pieces…:-)

I’ve always known the first verse of this poem and didn’t know there was more to it. It’s great to read the rest of it, love this poem.

Very nice poem Shawn. All of us have some special talent in us. Its just that we are afraid to try new things in life. Trust in yourself and be brave in order to be successful. Have a great day!
