Hello Shawn,
All the quotes are wonderful my favourite are:
Books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own. -William Hazlitt
The books which help you most are those which make you think most. The hardest way of learning is by easy reading; but a great book that comes from a great thinker is a ship of thought, deep freighted with truth and beauty. -Theodore Parker

I believe reading books is important because it develops the mind. Understanding is one way the mind grows in its ability. Through reading books we develop language skills. It also helps us to learn to listen. Everybody wants to talk, but few can really listen. Lack of listening skills can result in major misunderstandings. Reading books helps us to focus on what someone else is communicating.
Reading books also helps us to discover new things, develop our imagination, take us on adventures, and create drama, suspense, and intrigue. With reading, a person can go anywhere in the world…or even out of it! The possibilities are endless.
Reading books is important because words – spoken and written – are the building blocks of life. You are, right now, the result of words that you have heard or read AND believed. What you become in the future will depend on the words you believe now. People, families, relationships, and even nations are built from words.
In books lies the soul of the whole past time.
Thomas Carlyle
Books are the windows through
which the soul looks out.
Henry Ward Beecher
A good book is the precious life-blood
of a master spirit, embalmed and treasured
up on purpose to a life beyond life.
John Milton
Take care always!
Thanks Lee. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get paid to just stay at home and read? I’d love to find a way to take this website to the next level and make it my career! Imagine reading and searching out quotes all day? I know people have made a living from writing book reviews, or proofreading (like fellow thought-of-the-day subscriber Crystal…see crystalclearproofing.com) or even writing books! And was it Franklin that said those who read the best books write the best books? Or Thoreau? Or Emerson?
When I was 16, I made a goal to read a book every month, and I kept it up for many years. With the Internet now, I rarely read anymore! Strange. But I still love to do so…and my heart jumps when I see small-town bookstores; I just want to go in and find a treasure. But if you’re like me, you probably have bookcases full of books that you still need to get around to reading….
Oh, I drove by your publisher the other day; been up there like 4 times in the past 2 weeks. Such a beautiful area….
Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly- Francis Bacon.
