I’m going to try posting several random thoughts every day or so. I just have these huge collections of great quotations, but nowhere to put them…so this is a good way to do it:
He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has. -Epictetus
What is the true test of character, unless it be its progressive development in the bustle and turmoil, in the action and reaction of daily life. -Goethe
The contents of someone’s bookcase are part of his history, like an ancestral portrait. -Anatole Broyard
Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought. -Albert von Szent-Györgyi
Truth is always exciting. Speak it, then. Life is dull without it. -Pearl Buck
The rare individual who unselfishly tries to serve others has an enormous advantage–he has little competition. -Andrew Carnegie
I’m glad you found these random quotes Shawn. I really liked: He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has. -Epictetus

This was a nice quote… however, my mother has so many books that moving her over and over again over the past five years has felt like moving the library from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast!
Wonderful quotes Shawn, my favourite is the first as with others here.
I would like to share some with you as well.
In the end, it’s not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away
– shing xiong
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
– Dr. Seuss
Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with
a tear. When you were born, you were crying and everyone
around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die,
you’re the one smiling and everyone around you is crying.
– Unknown
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
– Edgar A. Guest
I love Edgar Guest and that poem. I keep thinking how I must not quit in my efforts with this site. Any second now things are going to turn around!
