Seven Crimes

Seven Crimes
Seven crimes:

  1. I don’t think.
  2. I don’t know.
  3. I don’t care.
  4. I am too busy.
  5. I leave well enough alone.
  6. I have no time to read and find out.
  7. I am not interested.

The seven crimes are indeed great crimes. No being should have the liberty or the leisure to indulge in them – indulging could make one quite pedestrian!

Perhaps the crime that matters the most is the first on the list, “I don’t think.” The rest can be weighed according to the circumstances which caused them to be committed. For example, I have little time for those who would rob the time I have reserved for those I love, and have little interest in matters that would steel my attention from the things that really matter. Given the circumstances, each of these crimes may be mitigated and found less indicting, but only if they are committed with thought. Not to think then, must top the list.

    Hello Shawn,

All seven crimes are worthy of thought, to me the most important two are: “I don’t think & I don’t care” Whatever we do in life it first has to come about through thought, and so much will never be accomplished if we don’t care. We will also lose everything that is of value in our lives if we don’t care, then why exist? There is no meaning in our life. Sad really! I do feel the others can be excused at times, life is very unpredictable. There seems to be much more sadness evolving in peoples lives, sometimes we want to do all the right things but it becomes such a struggle. We also need to be forgiving when expectations are not met, until we walk in the other persons shoes we should not judge others.

Thank you Shawn for your wonderful insightful quotes, poems and thoughts, we all gain a little wisdom from reading them. We get inspired to write and share out thought with others, that is so wonderful. Take care always, enjoy your weekend… Lee

You’re welcome again, Lee. 🙂 I’m sure you’re always finding and reading so many other great things all over the place…you mention the wisdom we can get by reading them. But I often will forget all about these great things I post here! I’m convinced the only & best way to remember them all is to print them off and tape them up in places we will see them more often…until they really become internalized and a part of us….
