10 Random Motivational Quotes

10 Random Motivational Quotes
Here are 10 random quotations that I copied out of one of my many pocket books of notes.Β  I realize that I have tons of great quotes in my notes that don’t fit so well under a main heading, so why not put them under a “random” category?Β  More to follow in the future. πŸ™‚

1) Rectitude is a perpetual victory, celebrated not by cries of joy, but by serenity, which is joy fixed or habitual. -Emerson

2) Enthusiasm is the genius of sincerity, and truth accomplishes no victories without it. -Edward Bulwer-Lytton

3) On every side of us are men who hunt perpetually for their personal North-West Passage, too often sacrificing health, strength and life itself to the search; and who shall say they are not happier in their vain but hopeful quest than wiser, duller folk who sit at home, venturing nothing. -Kenneth Rogers

4) It does not pay to scold. I believe you can get people to do anything (if you can get them to do it at all) by loving them into doing it. -George Albert Smith

5) A great mind is one that is neither ancient nor modern; it is neither ashamed of the old nor afraid of the new. It thinks neither in terms of old traditions nor in terms of new fashions. It is only concerned with the true and the workable. -N. Eldon Tanner

6) There are men whose presence seems to radiate sunshine, cheer, optimism. With them you feel calm and rested and restored, in a moment, to a new and stronger faith in humanity. -William George Jordan

7) Work is the grand cure for all the maladies and miseries that ever beset mankind–honest work, which you intend getting done. -Thomas Carlyle

8. Conquer thyself. Till thou has done this, thou art but a slave; for it is almost as well to be subjected to another’s appetite as to thine own. -Sir Richard Francis Burton

9) Do not judge men by mere appearances; for the light laughter that bubbles on the lip often mantles over the depths of sadness, and the serious look may be the sober veil that covers a divine peace and joy. -E.H. Chapin

10) Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them–every day begin the task anew. -Saint Francis de Sales

“A great mind is one that is neither ancient nor modern; it is neither ashamed of the old nor afraid of the new…” My old friends like the first half of the statement and my new friends insist on the latter. For others it looks like I may need to reword the quote to read, “A great mind is one who is neither ashamed of the new or afraid of the old.” Either way, this is wisdom. Now if you’ll excuse me I need to get ready for my square dancing class.

LOL! You make me laugh, David! And I like the way you think; mixing that statement together was pure genius. πŸ™‚ I’ll bet you have a talent for bringing people together, too.
