Quotes On Success

Quotes On Success
I’m reading a lot of quotes on success lately, so here’s a few that I thought you’d enjoy:

1. Success does not consist in never making mistakes, but in never making the same one a second time.
-George Bernard Shaw

2. I am sure in my own mind that the one business of life is to succeed, that God did not give us these magnificent brains, these miraculous personalities, and these wonderful physical qualities and then expect us to waste our lives in failure.  -Sterling W. Sill

3. The secret of every man who has ever been successful lies in the fact that he formed the habit of doing those things that failures don’t like to do. -A. Jackson King

4. If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imaged, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours. -Henry David Thoreau

5. Nature gave men two ends–one to sit on, and one to think with. Ever since then man’s success or failure has been dependent on the one he used most. -George R. Kirkpatrick

6. Ever man is enthusiastic at times. One man has enthusiasm for thirty minutes, another man has it for thirty days. But it is the man who has it for thirty years who makes a success in life.  -Edward B. Butler

7. Under normal periods, any man’s success hinges about five percent on what others do for him and 95 percent on what he does.  -James A. Worsham

8. Because a fellow has failed once or twice or a dozen times, you don’t want to set him down as a failure till he’s dead or loses his courage–and that’s the same thing.  -George Horace Lorimer

9. Nothing worthwhile comes easily. Half effort does not produce half results. It produces no results. Work, continuous work and hard work, is the only way to accomplish results that last.  -Hamilton Holt

10. Entrepreneurs average 3.8 failures before final success. What sets the successful ones apart is their amazing persistence. There are a lot of people out there with good and marketable ideas, but pure entrepreneurial types almost never accept defeat.  -Lisa M. Amos

All done.

  3. Number 5 brings all sorts of interesting images to mind – a humorous approach to success is often more impactful than something serious

  4. I love your quotes. Do you have any that would be more of an inspiration to weight loss? Of course, the ‘success and failure’ applies, but something more personal to get my mind set. I need to lose about 65 lbs and i’ve lost my momentum. If I lose the weight, my confidence will return.
    Thanks,
    Peggy

  5. These quotes couldn’t have come at a better time. I was ready to give up until I read them. I’m ready to meet my challenges again.
    Thanks Shawn.

  6. Thanks Shawn. I am getting into the habit of taking a look at these quotes every day. Most of the success quotes you have posted are completely within the realm of common sense and therefore should not be surprising ideas to anyone. None-the-less, they do not find their way into common conversation nor are they seen in common practice, making the practitioner of common sense uncommon.

  7. One more thought. The quote “7. Under normal periods, any man’s success hinges about five percent on what others do for him and 95 percent on what he does. -James A. Worsham”. Is a kick in the pants. Thanks

  8. I like “Nothing worth while comes easily. Half effort does not produce half results.” Never thought of it that way! But very true.

  9. Mysteryn11,
Not a good idea to catch me on Twitter. I have a bad habit of not checking in. But as for the quotes & motivation theme, I chose to showcase all these quotations after starting this site to go along with my book of quotations.

It just seemed like a good idea to add the quotes to the site. As for focussing in on the “motivational” word, it’s less used than “inspirational”. Not sure if that answers your question.

  10. your motivational quotes are so beautiful and it is really motivating us and bringing a good result with the teenagers heart and i am very much inspired and i have got a god confidence in than before
