  1. Hi Shawn,

I enjoyed these quotes, this is my favourite topic.

I read a quote about endurance in one of the Jeffrey Archer books which says,

‘Prizes are not awarded for strength but for endurance ..’

    Best Regards,
    Sandeep

  2. Wonderful, thank you, food for my brain. Possibly even vitamins and minerals for my brain.

  3. Nothing can stop the person with the right mental attitude from achieving their goal; nothing on earth can help the person with the wrong mental attitude – Thomas jJefferson

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out – Robert Collier

The only disablity in life is a bad attitude – Winston Churchill

  4. Eknath,
I only send the email thoughts twice per week.

Lately I’ve been posting on the blog more than once per week and so you can sign up for that above. See the subscribe box at the top right?

Lastly, I used to send a Twitter thought several times per day, but I’ve slowed down. Feel free to follow me there too:
    http://twitter.com/motivational

Isn’t this enough? Who else here would like me to send daily thoughts? Should it be via email or blog?

    Shawn

  5. Hi Shawn,

thanks for all the motivational quotes. they are very refreshing and jump-start my thought process. one that i read and enjoyed:

“the man who can drive himself further when the effort gets painful, is the man who will win”

    Daniel

  6. I like #1 & #9 very much. Also, 2x weekly feels just right to me. That schedule is not too inbox-filling, and creates nice anticipation.Thank you for the great thoughts.

  7. Not to boast, but because it is true:

I just published CD’s of music that I waited almost 30 years to publish at http://www.cdbaby.com/all/was57

The tapes sat protected in my closet while I saved my money, and waited, and waited.

With no support or encouragement from my family, I made it happen.

I think know as much about endurance and sustained enthusiasm as almost any man. (but I still have more patience to learn)

I am presently publishing my music composition work from graduate school for the first time after 25 years.

Not many people in life have waited patiently for THAT long to make
    something happen.

I am still waiting patiently. When stuck in a long line of people at the bank, post office, or store, I humorously remark to the people around me that, “This is a good opportunity to practice patience.” Somedays I am more patienct than other days.

“If you can learn patience, you can learn anything.” – from Sidhartha by Herman Hesse

    Thanks,

    Bill

  8. My favorite quote regarding this subject:
You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don’t try. Beverly Sills

  9. Hi, cool thoughts… just add one from my side also… “When the going gets tough, the tough get going…”

    Regards

    Navdeep

  10. I enjoy quotes,I search for a new one every morning before I start my day!alot of troubles with sickness in my family sometimes i feel like im on a rollercoaster this makes my day yes i agree 8 and 9 are great thanks

  11. Shawn,

i m very much depressed in love since i have hurt my girl, she is fully
against me . But i m not able to convince her or prrove her that i m reformed myself . i have been repenting for my mistake.

So i need some quotations for how to overcome from failures,
how an anger of a person lasts?. hope you understood what i meant. Please consider as my personal request

  12. #5 can be my mantra from now on. These really touched me today shawn! I always am so excited to see what uve sent me, twice a week is a great steady amount. Thanks so much for sharing!

    • Thanks Jenn. I hope you don’t mind when I switch to a daily format….something like 80% of the subscribers say they want me to send these out daily or close to daily. Soon. 🙂

  13. We can surprise ourselves when adversities evolve our lives, often you hear people say, “I don’t know how she coped”, or “how on earth did he survive”. The mind and the body can overcome great stresses and hardships, like soldiers captured in war time, or those fighting cancer. It always amazed me the strength and endurance people have.

I worked with cancer patients and as for war, my parents who were from Poland were taken to be POW in Germany. My brother died as a result of Agent Orange, he served in Vietnam.

Great quotes Shawn, they bring thoughts to life.

    • Thank, Lee. It’s true…. Your comment makes me think of Victor Frankl’s book “Man’s Search for Meaning”. He too was in the camps in Germany; my wife’s grandmother had the same experience when taken from Poland in WWII. She endured and still endures today. Thanks again.

  14. hi shawn..
these are really beautiful stuffs..but the best thing which impressed me is 4th…
    thank you…

  15. These are good words Shawn, and so are so many of the following comments. Thanks for making them available for us to share. I’d venture to guess that most of us, reading these words of encouragement can find direct application in them toward something we face right now. I am encouraged.

  16. Number 9 definitely does it for me…9) You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call “failure” is not falling down, but staying down. -Mary Pickford

Believe me, I live and breath that one, I have had many knocks in business and been knocked down heavily on some occasions, but I never stayed down and now at last, it has payed off. Another 2 quotes I have read in the past, can’t remember where from now are…Failure cannot cope with persistence” and “most people are good starters but poor finishers”…Food for thought there I think.

  17. HI Shawn,

Thank You so much for all the thoughts they are really motivating, they make my day…….

    Thanks,
    Shachi

  19. I like #5. It brings me hope to think that the tough time I am going through won’t last. It motivates me to be a tough person. Thank you for sharing.

By the way, I haven’t been receiving your weekly emails. I look forward to getting them every week. Have you been busy?

    Thank you.

    • Thanks for asking, Amber. Yes…I have been busy with a million other things. I know I really have to get back to sending out the thought of the day emails. I notice if I wait too long, people forget about me!

  20. I received the one you sent a few days ago, but before then i had been been on quotes drought for more than 6 months. Happy to be connected again.

    • I kind of fizzled out, closed down all my email lists, and stopped working on the web. But I’m trying to get back into it. For now, the only list I have is the automated new blog post mailing. I also send out quotes via Facebook and Twitter, so that’s always an option?
